Mission: Guatemala is a program of the Kateri Tekakwitha Mission Fund, a small 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation helping Guatemalans, especially women, better their lives through education and income generating activities.

The Kateri Tekakwitha Mission Fund was founded in 1997 by Kay "Cata" Sweeney shortly after her first visit to Guatemala volunteering in a religious community for indigenous women. During her volunteer work, Kay was struck by both the natural beauty of the country and of the fabric woven by the indigenous women.
